Independent Reading Time...

We spent some time reading our books outside this week!  It was so AMAZING!!!  We LOVE the sunshine and some of us even found a spot on the grass.  We hope to do it again this next week!  Wouldn't this be a good idea to do every day in the summer???

The release of the butterflies...

All of our chrysilises turned into beautiful butterflies at the end of this week.  Our class decided to walk to the Challenger Prairie to release them.  We found a GREAT place by the pond to let them spread their wings.   It was sad to see them go...we were good caretakers!!

Here are the third graders ready to make the release.  GOOD-BYE FRIENDS...

Girls Lunch...

We were able to enjoy our Girls Lunch outside last Thursday picnic style.  We just LOVE the picnic tables that were made for Challenger.  We had popsicles for dessert!  Finally, the weather was beautiful!!!

Our Music Informance...

Mrs. Helling's Favorite Kiddos...

I am so very PROUD and AMAZED at the talents of this group of AWESOME third graders.  They continue to surprise me with their support and friendship for each other and their AMAZING talents!!!  They were so BRAVE to share them with their family and friends.  It was the BEST program ever... just delightful!!!  YOU all warmed my heart...  :)

The rabbits came for a visit...

The rabbits came for a visit to our classroom last Friday.  Coby and Cooper brought both rabbits to share with us.  They were a bit shy (I wonder why?), but they made it through.  Coby talked to us about how to care for them, feed them, and how they go to the TRF fair each summer.  It was AWESOME!!!
P.S.  They aet cheese balls for a treat!!!

Student of the Week...

Kayla Stage is this week's Student of the Week.  She did a great job telling us about her poster and brought her VERY special bunny with her.  Kayla LOVES school and has a lot of favorite things.  Her favorite color is blue, she loves swimming, pizza, dogs (Just like Mrs. Helling), gym, music, and recess.  Her favorite book is Junie B. Jones.  She loves to help her friends and she LOVES the school lunches.  When she grows up, she wants to be in track and hopes that Mrs. Johnson is her coach.  She won 3 blue ribbons in the Special Olympics track meet in Warroad a week ago.  She was so proud of that.  YEAH, KAYLA!!!  Three things you may not know about Kayla are: that she is a good swimmer, loves animals, and misses her friend, Issac a lot.  You did a great job on your poster, Kayla!!!

LHS Track Team...

The LHS Boys and Girls Track Team came to  Challenger for Prowler Pride on Friday.  Their coach is Mrs. Johnson, one of the third grade teachers.  They did an AWESOME job talking about the sport and the many events that they are in.  They also talked to us about how important it is to do a good job in school and work hard at anything you do.  Some of them are going to graduate in 2 weeks and go off to college.  Thanks for doing a GREAT job.  GO PROWLERS..

Our very own, Mrs. Johnson with one of her track students, Frannie.

Our Trip To The Farm...

We had an AMAZING time at the Melbye Farm.  ADawn and Blake did an AWESOME job of sharing their animals and farm with us.  We were surprised by FFA students that were the "experts" in the different stations that we went to.  We saw pigs, held lambs, watched chickens lay eggs, sit on saddles, brush the horses, pet the very friendly dogs, and explore different things in nature along a really cool trail.  At the very end, we go to make smores by a fire.  It was the BEST time ever!!!  We made GREAT lasting memories.  Some of had never been on a farm, held a lamb, or even made smores...THANKS to Blake and his mom for making this happen.  They have such a nice place.  Enjoy some of the pictures below...

Here is our class posing for a photo in the barn...Kendal and Abrianna are holding the lambs!!!

THANKS for inviting us to your farm, Blake.  It was just AMAZING...
