Valley Home Visits Challenger...

Here are some of the residents that visited Challenger today.  They were welcomed by Mr. Wienen and led on a tour of the school by Mrs. Helling's students.  They ended in the classroom and were read poetry, learned about the butterflies, saw demonstrations on  iPads, and had cookies and punch. It was an AMAZING time.  We know that it is our last day with them and many students hope to visit Valley Home in the summer.  THANKS, VALLEY HOME.  We love you!!!

This is Coach Skjerven!  He bourght some of his senior players to talk to us about Prowler baseball .  Some of our students got to work with these same players and others at a baseball clinic this week.  You can tell that Coach Skjerven really LOVES baseball!  GO PROWLERS!!!!!
Jared and Grady talked to us about baseball, school, where they were attending college, etc.  We were VERY impressed with them.  They did an AWESOME job.  We learned that Jared loves NDSU and Grady loves hockey and also is a good dancer???  I bet Coach Skjerven is very PROUD of his team!!!  Good Luck at tournament time.

Reading At The Beach Day...

Today was "Read At The Beach" Day for all third graders.  We had an AMAZING time reading in the new kindergarten wing with our friends and taking a little tour of the new addition.  As you can see below, it was a GREAT time.  We also had "extra" recess and a summer treat at the end of the day.  The students sure looked awesome in their swimwear, sunglasses, flip flops, hats, etc.  We enjoyed decorations in our hallway, along with music playing from the Beach Boys.  Enjoy the pictures!

Smoking Presentation

A group of students from Lincoln High School presented on the dangers of smoking this week to all third graders at Challenger.  They did a GREAT job and shared information, posters, and other tools to teach the students about these dangers.  The students asked really good questions and learned a lot.  They were asked to "Take A Pledge" to not smoke and were to discuss this presentation with you.  There are some pictures below.  Thanks again to Sandra Peterson and the students at LHS.

Guinea Pig Welcome...

This is Piper and her guinea pig.  She brought him to share with our class on Friday.  He scared Mrs. Helling just a little bit!  Isn't he cute?  Piper seemed very kind and gentle with him.  THANKS for sharing, Piper.
P.S. Mom and grandma came for lunch, too.

Prowler Track Team

Sheena and Shelby talked to us about why they joined track, how hard they work, and how much fun they have.  They also shared about running in this cold and snowy weather.  They were just AWESOME role models for the third graders!!!  We really liked them a lot!!!  GO PROWLERS!!!!!

Logan, Blake, and Cody did a GREAT job explaining the equipment that they use in track.  They brought different kinds of running shoes and let us look at them.  They also told us about their favorite times in track and even their most embarrassing moments.  Blake was a student of mine in third grade.  I was PROUD of him then and  am so PROUD of him now.

This is Coach Lindsey Johnson.  She brought her seniors to our classroom to talk about Boys and Girls Track.  She did an AWESOME job!   We know Mrs. Johnson very well.  She is our next door neighbor at school.  THANKS, Mrs. Johnson.  You rock!!!
