LHS Math League...

Coach Froiland brought some of his math league students for Prowler Pride this Friday!  They talked to us about how a competition is run and that they are hoping to get a trophy this year  for 2nd place.  They did an AWESOME job!

Some of our third grade friends were part of a math problem...we did a GREAT job at learning how to solve it!  We tried it in our classroom as well.

Rylan was very PROUD of his sister, Karyn.  She is a part of the math league.  I hope that Rylan decides to join it when he gets to LHS.

Scholastic News Jigsaw Activity...

This group shared their article on "One Leader, Many Jobs".  It was about the job of the president!

This group talked about the article called, "City Celebration".  Philadelphia became the first U.S. city to be named a World Heritage City.  They played an important role in the world's history and culture.

This group shared the "Super Bowl Champs" chart.  The Super Bowl kicks off on February 7th.  This year will mark the 50th anniversary.  Did you know that the Pittsburgh Steelers have won the most super bowls.
This group of friends shared the article on "Dogs on Duty".  This group of dogs were working  on Middle Island, Australia and taking care of penguins!!!  The penguin population grew from 4 to over 200 penguins.

This group shared the article called, "Would You Run For President".  Later this year on November 8th, Americans will choose the nation's 45th president.   Three things they shared were that the president had to be at least 35 years old, have lived in the country for at least 14 years, and that you have to be a natural born citizen.  The soonest that this year's third grader could run for president would be 2044!!!

SNACKS...

THANKS to everyone that provided snacks this week and last.  Our cupboards are full once again.  If you did not get a chance to bring some, please consider sending some when you get a chance.  It is great to have a snack each morning after our reading and word study!

Good-Bye to Erin...

Today was Erin's last day with us as a CAP student.  We gave her a t-shirt with our names signed on the back (autographs!!) and made her cards to THANK her for the great job that she did.  We gave her a HUGE chocolate bar, too!!!  She wrote a special card to each student and brought treats to share.  We will miss her A LOT!!!

Erin is getting a lot of HUGS from her friends.  It was hard to get them to go outside for recess!!!  There were a few tears from all of us.  We really built a special relationship with her.  We just love and support the CAP program.  THANKS to LHS for supporting it.

Thanks, Andraya...Andraya

Andraya and her family went on a trip last week to Florida.  On Monday, she shared a story about her trip and some of her FAVORITE and AMAZING experiences.  She brought a few things to share.  We had a great time listening to her.  Thanks for sharing, Andraya.
