Mrs. Helling Is A Grandma... YEAH!!!

Here is the proof that I am a grandma!!!  Jace Ryan Helling was born at about 10:30am today!  He weighed 8 lb 7 oz and was 22 in. long.  His mom and dad (Ross and Kelsey) are so proud!  It will be so AMAZING to watch him grow up!  I will have LOTS and LOTS of books to read to this little guy!!!  My very SPECIAL third grade friends were the FIRST to know.  They were so excited, too!  I hope to bring Jace Ryan to share time one day in the near future!

Snowshoeing on the prairie...

We went snowshoeing on the Challenger Prairie last week.  Kenny was our guide and led us on an AMAZING trip!  We went through some really deep snow, but didn't give up!  We LOVED being outside and had a great experience on snowshoes.  We spent a lot of time laughing and just having fun!!!  Check out some of the photos below. We hope to go again before the snow leaves us...

Student of the Week...

This is Johanna Mattson!  She is this week's Student of the Week!  She lives in her grandparents' old house (I would love that), has one brother named Josh, and wants to be a pet groomer when she grows up.  Some of her favorites are the colors purple and blue, dogs, lasagna, Dork Diaries books, ice skating, art, recess, and gym.   She feels special when she is helping others and being a great friend to everyone!  Three things you may not know about Johanna are that she can make a tikia mask, has a middle name that is a month, and does not like pumpkin seeds.  Yeah, Johanna!!  You did an AMAZING job!!!  P.S.  Look at her skating trophy!!!

FFA for Prowler Pride...

These students from the FFA program at Lincoln High School brought some animals with them for their presentation today!  It was a GREAT learning experience for our students.  They did an awesome job explaining their program and all the life skills they have learned from being a part of this good group.  They are good role models for LHS.  We LOVED their animals!!!

This is Hannah!  She was in Mrs. Helling's class when she was a third grader.  She did an AWESOME job and made Mrs. Helling so proud of her.  She was holding her very special bunny!!! Thanks for sharing with us today, Hannah!!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series...

Ivar was "Student of the Week" and shared his FAVORITE author with our class.  He actually had all of the students line up with the books that he has read in order.  We were VERY impressed.  We talked about this being a type of fiction Series Book, with the character not really changing over time, but journaling his daily adventures in life.  It was an interesting way to show his LOVE for reading and that we are getting hooked on series books.  Thanks, Ivar...
P.S.  THANKS to his classmates for helping him today!

Our friend, Issac...

Issac sent us a photo of him in his new hat.  He got it for his birthday!  We miss you, Issac!!!

Girls Lunch Day...

Here we are having Girls Lunch together.  We squeeze around one BIG table to eat, visit, and visit some more.  We had ice cream for dessert this time!  It was an AMAZING lunch once again!!!  Thanks, girls for the wonderful time!!!

Happy Valentine's Day...

Here are some photos of our Valentine's Day party.  We had such a great time opening cards and treat from our very BEST friends.  We got sooooooooo... many treat!  We had a scavenger hunt, read Arthur's Valentine, had a snack/drink, and watched a planet video.  It was a LOVEly day in third grade.  Thanks to everyone for sending cards, treats. etc.  We hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day!!!

Robotics Team...

This was build by the Robotics Team from LHS.  We got to see different parts of this machine (robot).  At the competition level, this robot will shoot balls into a net, with the use of computer control.  It was AMAZING.  There are about 20 students on the team, along with adults that have an interest in this type of event.  Their coach is Mark McGlynn.  Go Robotics Team... You ROCK!!!!!

They anwered A LOT of questions from our third graders.  It was so interesting for our students...

Our third graders lined the hallway to see what the robot could do...

One of the students that presented was in Mrs. Helling's third grade class.  His name is Eric Molskness.  I think he was taking things apart and putting them back together way back in third grade.  Good Job, Eric!!!

Valley Home Visit...

We went to Valley Home last Friday and made an art project with our resident friends.  We had another wonderful time.  We spent time visiting with our friends and learning about them as much as they were learning about us.  When we finished our project, we got to hang them in our resident's room.  That was sooooooo... exciting!!!  We also read biography books to them and taught them how to play Dice Mania.  They can really shake dice!!  It was an AMAZING day!!!  Here are some photos to prove it...
P.S.  THANKS to the volunteers that helped us today.

Here is Alecia with our most favorite friend, Grandma Darlene!!!
